About Nabisco

Skilled & Diversified

The New York Biscuit Company and the American Biscuit and Manufacturing Company merged over 100 bakeries to form the National Biscuit Company, known as Nabisco. The business' founders, Adolphus Green and William Moore, negotiated the merger, and the company quickly rose to first place in the production and marketing of cookies and crackers in America. The business relocated its headquarters from Chicago to New York in 1906.

After being purchased by R.J. Reynolds in 1985 and becoming part of RJR Nabisco, Nabisco was sold in 2000 to Altria Group, Inc. which is the parent company of Kraft Foods.

About Oreos

Great Food

The Oreo biscuit was created and produced by the National Biscuit Company in 1912. On March 14, 1912, the word Oreo was trademarked. It was created as an imitation of the Sunshine Company's Hydrox biscuit, which was first introduced in 1908. The original Oreo face had a wreath around the cookie's edge and the word "OREO" in the middle.
